About Me
Robert "Candles" Cheney
Engineer
I grew up as a country boy, where I learned to work hard and love freedom. My father taught me from a young age how to shoot, and I’ve loved guns ever since. After high school, I went to college to pursue an engineering degree, and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Mechanical Engineering.
After spending several years trying different things, I started training with operators, and helping them design rifles and hand guns. One day we were sitting around lamenting the fact that no one did realistic, battle worthy cerakote camo patterns, when everyone looked at me and said I should start a cerakote company.
Now, being an engineer caused me to have misgivings about the artistic side of cerakoting, however that same background set me up perfectly to learn all the ins and outs of both business and cerakote. Before long, Take Cover LLC was born. As I studied cerakoting, I quickly learned both how to develop my own unique colors and camo patterns.
The result is today, I have my own style of cerakoting that creates beautiful, unique guns that are also functional in the battlefield.
